What is 'Becoming: The Brotherhood Blueprint'?

It’s a feature-length documentary and 8-part docuseries exploring modern masculinity, emotional healing, rites of passage, and the power of brotherhood. It’s designed to spark reflection, conversation, and reconnection in families, communities, and cultures around the world.

How can I support?

You can support the Becoming project by gifting a contribution, sponsoring as a brand or organisation, or investing in the project with a fixed return model. Visit the pages in the navigation bar above to explore your options. Every contribution helps bring this vision to life.

Is this a nonprofit project?

No. This is an independent, purpose-driven media project funded by individuals, sponsors, and investors. We’ve chosen this structure to stay agile and ensure creative and distributional freedom.

How Much Are You Looking To Raise?

Our goal is to raise $250,000 to fund pre-production, filming, editing, post-production, marketing, and the launch of both the documentary and docuseries.

For context:
Theo's previous project with Nicola Williams, Time of the Sixth Sun, cost $900,000 and took over a decade to complete, filming across 16 countries. It was a massive and beautiful undertaking - but it required time, travel, and infrastructure on a global scale.

With Becoming, the contributors are mostly local, the structure is already in place, and the production strategy is lean by design.

We’re not cutting corners — we’re cutting clutter. This is a story whose time has come, and we're ready to tell it with focus, efficiency, and depth.

Every dollar moves us closer to a film that doesn’t just get made - but gets seen, felt, and remembered.

Is my contribution refundable?

Yes — all contributions come with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If something doesn’t feel right, just let us know.

Where does the money go?

Your support helps fund the complete creation, delivery, and distribution of the Becoming documentary and docuseries.

Your contribution supports:

  • Camera crew & equipment

  • Location and travel expenses

  • Post-production & editing

  • Music licensing

  • Translation & subtitling

  • Web infrastructure & hosting

  • Marketing, outreach & launch strategy

  • Fair reimbursement for the core team’s time, creative work, and project coordination

For context: Time of the Sixth Sun took over a decade and $900,000 to complete - and many of us worked unpaid for years.

With Becoming, we’ve built a leaner, smarter model — but we’re also committed to valuing the people behind the scenes.

There’s no bloat, no fluff — just a clear path to a powerful piece of storytelling the world needs now.

Can I help in other ways if I can’t contribute financially?

Absolutely. You can:

  • Share the project with people you care about

  • Introduce us to potential sponsors or aligned communities

  • Follow our updates and help amplify the launch when we go live

Support isn’t just financial — it’s energetic. Every share, mention, and act of belief helps this reach further.

Who is behind the project?

The project is led by Executive Producer Theo van Dort (Time of the Sixth Sun – 1M+ viewers worldwide) and Ryan Herrington, facilitator of the Bali Brotherhood and founder of Freedom Creator. Together, they bring over two decades of experience in media, conscious storytelling, and men’s work.

Where will the film be available once it’s finished?

We plan to release Becoming on a dedicated website using a Pay-It-Forward model, allowing people to watch for free or contribute after watching. We also aim to feature it on streaming platforms and in community screenings globally.

Can I nominate someone to be featured in the documentary?

Yes — we’re open to hearing from powerful men’s work leaders, elders, or community stories that align with the themes. Please use the contact form above to send us details.

How do I know this is real?

We understand the hesitation — the internet is full of ideas that never come to life.

But this isn’t our first time. Theo's previous project, Time of the Sixth Sun, took over a decade to make and has been seen by more than 1 million people around the world.

This time, the roadmap is tighter, the team is in place, and we’re ready to go.

When will the project be released?

We aim to complete filming layer in 2025, with editing and post-production immediately after.

The initial documentary and docuseries release is targeted within 9 months of funding completion, followed by the global launch supported by organic and paid advertising and marketing.

How will you ensure the film gets seen?

We’re building the launch strategy around a proven Pay-It-Forward model, plus influencer outreach, global mailing list campaigns, third-party partner promotions, and partner screenings.

We also plan to submit to festivals and streaming platforms.

Can I follow along during the project?

Yes — everyone who contributes will be added to our updates list. You’ll receive progress updates, sneak peeks, and behind-the-scenes insights as we move through production.

Why now? What makes this project so timely?

Because we’re in a crisis of disconnection - and men are at the centre of it.

Rates of male suicide, addiction, emotional shutdown, and isolation are rising.

Boys are growing up without rites of passage.

Fathers are struggling to show up fully.

And most men still don’t have a safe space to talk about what they’re carrying.

But this isn’t just about men. It’s about the women who love them, the mothers raising boys without strong male role models, the daughters watching their fathers disappear behind silence, and the partners trying to hold the emotional weight of an entire relationship alone.

We believe this moment in history is a turning point.
Becoming is being made for this moment - not five years from now.

And with your support, we’ll help bring back what the world is so sincerely longing for:

Brotherhood. Purpose. Healing. Connection.
